Rothko Museum...

You are asked to design a museum for a special and small collection of Rothko's color paintings for a Houston billionaire. Her wishes are that this meseum will embrace the spirit and critical nature of Rothko's work. Her vision is that a visitor to this museum would be so affected by the integration of the building with the paintings that one would need to retire to the plaza to reflect on the powerful images just witnessed in an effort to acclimate themselves back into reality.

The collector desires to provide an experience of the paintings that increases their distinctiveness and intensifies one's desire to understand and interpret them. To achieve this intent the collector has decided that the paintings are to be placed in a manner that maximized the space between the paintings and viewer.
